President Bush Signs Partial Birth Abortion Ban

WASHINGTON- Congressman Spencer Bachus was in attendance with the President today as he officially signed the legislation banning partial-birth abortion into law.  "Fortunately, we have a President that places high value on human life", said Bachus of President Bush.  "It's about time we put an end to this inhumane and gruesome practice".

Last year, estimates show that, at the very least, over 25,000 partial birth abortions were performed in the U.S.  "I would not be able to look at myself in the mirror if I had not done all that I could to make sure that the laws were changed to correct such an injustice", Bachus said.

Congressman Bachus is the only Alabamian to sit on the House Judiciary Committee where the legislation first originated.

The Bill signed today prohibits anyone from knowingly performing a partial-birth abortion, except when necessary to save the life of a mother that is that is endangered by a physical disorder, illness, or injury.  Abortionists who violate this ban are subject to fines, a maximum of two years imprisonment, or both.

Contributions are NOT deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes. Federal Election Law requires us to report the name, address, occupation, and employer for contributions that aggregate in excess of $200 in an election cycle.The maximum an individual may contribute is $2,400 per election. Couples may contribute $4,800. Federal PACs may contribute $5,000 per election. Contributions by corporations, foreign nationals (non-green card holders), labor unions, and federal government contractors are prohibited. Not Printed at Government Expense.
